Pharmaceutical

Fruits and vegetabls have often played a role in the pharmaceutical industry in the creation of flavors for medicines for both children and adults. Fruit flavors are more popular because they are sweeter in nature, making the medicines easier to take. Some of the essential oils in the fruits can also offer pharmaceutical benefit. There are common fruit flavors used in cough medicines:

  • Cherry
  • Grape
  • Watermelon

Vegetable oils are also used for pharmaceutical purposes because of the essential oils in them. They have been used to create a variety of pharmaceutical products including laxatives. Many of these vegetable oils are taken in pill form to offer a concentrated dose of the essential oils.
